According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, Massage Therapist professionals are expected to grow by an eyebrow raising 20% during 2006 to 2016. Studies provided by the American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA) and Associated Bodywork and Massage Professionals (ABMP) show these impressive numbers that cover the past 20 years.

  • 1987 - An estimated 30,000 massage and bodywork professionals
  • 1992 - This number grows to 54,000
  • 1998 - Six years later this count more than doubles to 137,390
  • 2002 - Therapist count jumps to 175,000
  • 2008 - ABMP estimates number of professionals at 278,000
